"TOTAL SCAM. Do not fall for it. They continue to charge me, even though I haven't given my authorization for this and haven't used their website in months. They don't answer their phones, their website never helped me and it didn't even give me access for the promised time. Please don't make the mistake I did by signing up with them."

"I'm only hoping that someone is reading this post prior to signing up with Empire Apt - please do not fall for their promise of cheap and wonderful NY living! Not only no services were rendered in my case, but Empire has refused (or rather conveniently avoided) refunding me the fee upon account candellation, which they were contractually obligated to do. "I wish I had read the reviews before.... After answering a Craiglists ad and paying $200 because Brooke (the agent) represented that they were a "pre-screening agency for landlords". I looked at their listings and I too realized they were the same listings I was getting elsewhere for free on the Internet. I tried to cancel within 24 hours by writing a letter for a refund (as they instructed) and I never received it. I repeatedly tried to email and call, and they have NOT responded at all. "Empire Apartments is a SCAM. Do not fall for it. "BAD, BAD, BAD people! They give you a handful of teaser listings, then disappear from view. After taking the initial $200 charge (and giving me apt. listings for which the phrase "hell hole" is too complimentary), they made a random $20 charge to my card. I called to demand a refund, which they of course promised, and later found out that, after not making the refund, they took an ADDITIONAL charge from my card of $45! Unsurprisingly, they're now missing in action and totally unreachable.
