Profile
Harvey Manes’ successful career is almost no match for the success he has been able to obtain through his gallant efforts of being a better humanitarian. His most recent endeavor, the Manes Peace Prize Foundation, brings new levels of humility to the world. This admirable foundation prides itself on bettering the world for future generations, and honoring those who have done an exorbitant amount of work that has promoted peace and good will in the world. Manes created this Peace Prize to honor an American individual or organization that has done the most in the preceding year to contribute to the promotion of peace between: nations, races, religions or people in general. The award can also be given to a person or organization that has done the most to contribute to good will in terms of health, education, welfare, or even helping people realize and rise to their potential. This peace prize is truly unique and inspiring to everyone it encompasses. Manes has been serving the Long Island community as an orthopedic surgeon for over 25 years. Beginning his career at Downstate Medical School where he earned his M.D., Manes then continued to Kings County Hospital for his residency where he practiced orthopedic surgery. In the past 20 years, he has acted as a clinical instructor at the Nassau County University Hospital, where he taught orthopedic surgery to residents, and became a pioneer in the joint replacement surgery industry. Dr. Manes was the first orthopedic surgeon to implant an elbow and ankle replacement in the Tri State Area of New York. He currently has his own Orthopedics and Physical Therapy office. As if medical school wasn’t a difficult enough venture, Dr. Manes decided to attend the Hofstra University School of Law, and now serves as an attorney that specializes in Art Law.
