Profile
Dr. Kevin Buckwalter began his studies in medicine while conducting experimental neurology research at the University of Nevada, Reno. Working alongside Dr. Agyli in the Department of Zoology, Buckwalter published work on Glial regeneration in an insect’s Central Nervous system. Soon after, Buckwalter graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Public Heath, earning a United States Achievement Collegiate Award and a Las Vegas Numismatic Scholarship along the way.
Honing in on his interests that were developed at the University of Nevada, Buckwalter earned his medical degree at the Ross University School of Medicine in New York. It was here that Buckwalter had the opportunity to conduct research in conjunction with Shriners Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, regarding Myelodysplastic Children and Latex. Buckwalter made the Dean’s List several times and graduated in the top 10% of his class with honors.
Kevin Buckwalter was an intern with the Department of Surgery at the Pennsylvania State University Hospital in Hershey, and completed his residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in the Department of Family Medicine. Buckwalter became a Diplomate for the American Board of Family Practice. In the midst of his medical studies, Buckwalter served as a missionary in Georgia on behalf of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
After his residency, Buckwalter moved back to Nevada and worked on the Family Practice and Urgent Care teams for the Fremont Medical Center in Henderson. He was hired to work at Sierra View District Hospital in Porterville, CA, making him licensed in two states. With the experience of being in a general hospital setting under his belt, Buckwalter moved back to Henderson in hopes of starting his own private practice. Buckwalter’s dream was realized in 2001, making him the only LDS primary care family physician in the south Las Vegas region.
Dr. Kevin Buckwalter is awarded with Advanced Trauma, Advanced Cardiac, Advanced Obstetrics, and Advanced Pediatric Life Support Certifications. Buckwalter is part of the American Medical Association, Nevada Academy of Family Physicians, and American Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Buckwalter’s practice is based in Henderson, Nevada.
