Profile
Bioethics is defined as “the philosophical study of ethical controversies that arise from advances in biology and medicine.” Founding Editor-in-Chief of the legendary American Journal of Bioethics, Glenn McGee daily addresses the questions of ethics that are rooted in the relationships that exist between politics, law, medicine, life sciences, philosophy, and theology.
A peer-reviewed journal with an impressive editorial staff, AJOB has gone through several iterations of publishing during its lifetime, initially being published quarterly by The MIT Press, but later being acquired by Taylor & Francis Health Sciences and moving to a bi-monthly publishing schedule. The Journal has been published monthly over the last two years, during which time it has continued to receive awards and recognition as the nation’s leading publication in the field. AJOB was recognized as the Best New Journal from the Council of Editors of Learned Journals in 2003, and it has been reviewed in such contemporary scholastic periodicals as the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), Science, Nature, Nature Medicine, and the Times Higher Education Supplement. Under Glenn McGee’s leadership, AJOB has been a leader in the development of the bioethics field, introducing Open Peer Commentary, InFocus articles, and a regular Public Health and Bioethics column. In 2008, Chronicle of Higher Education published the opinion that "in the history of journals" no journal has risen to the top of its field so fast.
Glenn McGee is a widely published author and highly sought-after speaker. His work is primarily focused on the field of bioethics. Mr. McGee holds a Master’s degree and Doctor of Philosophy from Vanderbilt University. Glenn McGee currently resides in Albany, New York.
