| Franco Lumachi is an Associate Professor at the University of Padua, School of Medicine, Italy. Professor Lumachi’s position requires him to perform research and give lectures to budding scientists and doctors in one of Italy’s oldest universities. Over the last decade, he has held a variety of positions at the University of Padua’s School of Medicine, beginning with a role as a Clinical Researcher and Attending Surgeon in General surgery. Professor Lumachi added Endocrine Surgery to his list of obligations in 1996 and joined the Breast Surgery Unit in 2004. Concurrent with his clinical positions and dovetailing with his current position as an Associate Professor at the University of Padua, Professor Lumachi has had myriad experiences teaching a variety of subjects. Professor Lumachi taught at the University of Padua’s School of Plastic Surgery between 1992 and 1996 while simultaneously teaching General Surgery at the University’s School of Emergency Surgery. For a decade, Professor Lumachi taught Surgical Anatomy, and for the past seven years, he has divided his covered material among Endocrine Surgery, General Surgery, and Senology. Professor Lumachi possesses a medical degree (M.D.) from the University of Padua, where he also performed postgraduate studies in General Surgery and Endocrinology, with a brief stint at the University of Verona to study Endocrine Surgery. He returned to the University of Padua for Post-Doctoral training, performing a Surgery Internship and Residency. Internationally, Professor Lumachi has been a visiting fellow in Boston, Massachusetts at Harvard University and Massachusetts General Hospital; Lille, France at the Université de Lille and the Clinique Chirurgicale; Montréal, Canada at McGill University and the Royal Victoria Hospital; as well as Strasbourg, France at the IRCAD-IESE.
