Finance executive Ervil Spencer is a senior investment banker with substantial experience in industries such as data centers, media, telecommunications, business services, and forest products. He has specific expertise in leveraged finance and debt restructuring. During his career, he has completed over 50 transactions raising approximately $14 billion in capital and has advised clients on 15 debt restructuring transactions that affected over $4 billion in debt. Currently, Ervil Spencer serves as an independent banking advisor in New York. Previously, Spencer was a Director of Investment Banking at New York-based TD Securities. He was recruited in 2007 for his second term with the company to assist in building the firm’s investment banking business. Spencer was instrumental in helping the firm build its data center banking practice.
Prior to returning to TD Securities, Ervil Spencer worked with financial services firm UBS Warburg. Spencer served as a Director in Leveraged Finance and Global Industrials groups at UBS Warburg. As a senior banker, his responsibilities included originating and executing high yield bond transactions in the industrial, media, and telecom sectors where he raised approximately $1.6 billion in capital for clients. He also acted as captain of the Harvard Business School recruiting team, identifying top MBA talent for the Corporate Finance Department.
A Harvard alumnus, Ervil Spencer received an MBA in 1995, following his undergraduate education at New York's Pace University. Ervil Spencer earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in under three years, ranking third in his class and graduating summa cum laude. After finishing graduate school, Spencer returned to Pace University as an Assistant Professor and taught accounting courses for three years.
In addition to his work as an Assistant Professor, Ervil Spencer simultaneously operated a consulting business in Montclair, New Jersey. As Founder and CEO of CS Financial Advisors Inc., Spencer focused on counseling U.S. non-resident taxpayers on tax treaty issues. CS Financial Advisors offered a niche service that generated a high referral rate for the business. Ervil Spencer directed the company until 2006, returning to TD Securities the following year.
