An alumna of Southern College of Optometry (SCO), Dr. Gemma Meadows has achieved considerable success since earning her Doctor of Optometry in 2002. As a student, Dr. Gemma Meadows was the recipient of the Bays Family Scholarship in addition to graduating Cum Laude and on the Dean’s List. Dr. Gemma Meadows was also appointed Secretary of Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society for her exemplary professionalism and ethics, an honor attributed to no more than 10% of a single graduating class. Additionally, Dr. Gemma Meadows distinguished herself as a key member in the National Optometric Student Association (NOSA) and in SCO’s Student Government Association.
Today, Dr. Gemma Meadows implements her broad range of leadership skills as the Vice President and Chief Operational Officer of Eastern Eye Associates Optometry. Dr. Gemma Meadow’s extensive experience in her school’s student government, combined with her various other commanding roles particularly prepared her for guiding the clinic’s business operations and streamlining objectives both for the practice as well as individual staff members. In conjunction with her administrative role, Dr. Gemma Meadows provides comprehensive primary and emergency eye care to the clinic’s patients. Specifically, Dr. Gemma Meadows detects and treats vision conditions, such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and presbyopia. Dr. Gemma Meadows also diagnoses and manages ocular disease conditions and infections such as conjunctivitis, cataracts, glaucoma, and retinal disorders.
Dr. Gemma Meadows regularly volunteers as a doctor for public health initiatives, such as InfantSEE and the Gloucester-Mathews Free Clinic.
A resident of Williamsburg, Virginia, Dr. Gemma Meadows maintains memberships in the Tidewater Optometric Society, the American Optometric Association, and the Virginia Optometric Association.
