In the 1970s, the United States was able to improve relations with the People's Republic of China through the trade of table tennis players and Mr. Reza Bahar holds that this so-called ping pong diplomacy holds the solution to modern political conflict. Reza Bahar is active in both local and national table tennis organizations, as well as the International Table Tennis Federation, which facilitates his study of table tennis history in Great Britain and Europe. Through his research, Reza Bahar hopes to apply ping pong diplomacy to the issues in Israel and Palestine, as well as North Korea. In support of this aspiration, Reza Bahar encourages the formation of table tennis events at the grassroots level globally, and especially in the Middle East and Asia. In his own community, Reza Bahar supports his cause by leading free table tennis seminars.
Dedicated to helping those in need, Reza Bahar contributes to the American Heart Association, which was founded in 1924 to promote heart health and reduce the occurrence of cardiovascular disease and stroke. Recreationally, Reza Bahar is a fan of film, counting Reservoir Dogs, Forrest Gump, and the Curious Case of Benjamin Button among his favorite motion pictures. Reza Bahar is a fan of writer and film director Ingmar Bergman, who has influenced filmmakers like Woody Allen, Stanley Kubrick, Ang Lee, and David Lynch.
