David Ernick spent several years as a Tax Associate for law firms and as a Law Clerk for several notable federal judges before accepting his current position as an Associate International Tax Counsel with the United States Treasury Department, which he has held for six years. In this role, David Ernick is responsible for negotiating tax treaties and trade agreements for the United States. Another aspect of this position involves advising the government on areas of regulatory and legislative matters.
David Ernick's work with the Treasury Department garnered him several notable speaking positions and roles on panels. In 2007, David Ernick represented the United States for a meeting of the Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD) to discuss the effects of harmful tax competition. Two years later, the OECD chose David Ernick to chair a panel in Paris on business restructuring. David Ernick served as the Chair of the Joint WP1/WP6 Working Group on Business Restructurings and the Vice-Chair of Working Party No. 6 on the Taxation of Multinational Enterprises. David Ernick's successes led to the United States Treasury Department honoring him with several awards, such as the Kenneth W. Gideon Award for Outstanding Support to the Office of Chief Counsel, numerous performance awards, and a Special Act award.
David Ernick comes to the United States Treasury Department with a B.S. and an M.B.A. in Business Administration from Boston University and a J.D. from Boston College Law School. In his spare time, David Ernick enjoys skiing, swimming, and running.
