Although he has chosen not to seek re-election as Mayor of Eden Prairie, one cannot discount Phil Young as a potential candidate for public office in the future. Phil Young began his tenure in the public sector after joining the Eden Prairie Human Rights & Diversity Commission in 2000. Phil Young held the position of Vice Chair until 2002, when he was elected to the City Council. Serving on the Eden Prairie City Council until 2007, Phil Young was subsequently elected Mayor of this small city of over 70,000 people. In 2007, he also joined TruStone Financial Federal Credit Union as an Associate Director, and was promoted to Director in 2008. Phil Young operates as a veteran Trial Lawyer who has represented parties in more than 60 cases before judges, juries, administrative hearing officers, and arbitrators. Graduating cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1991, Phil Young practiced law for nearly seven years in Los Angeles, California. He then moved with his family to Minnesota, where he joined Moss & Barnett, P.A. Initially serving as an Associate in 1998, he transitioned to a role as a Shareholder in 2001. Although Phil Young stepped down from his position at Moss & Barnett this year, he remains a formidable business law attorney whose experience includes seven years as a first and second chair trial lawyer defending manufacturers of petroleum and chemical products in toxic tort litigation. While declining to seek re-election out of a desire to spend more time with his family, Phil Young has not entirely ruled out a future election bid for public office.
