Possessing Masterâs and Ph.D. degrees in a variety of disciplines, Uinta Academy employees are well-equipped to treat a diverse range of issues, including depression, anxiety, attention deficit disorder, dysthymic disorder, reactive attachment, borderline personality traits, eating disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and more.
At Uinta Academy, girls engage in a breadth of academic, housekeeping, and recreational activities designed together to foster a cohesive, supportive atmosphere. The girls at Uinta Academy perform chores in the house and around the ranch, plan and cook meals, and care for pets. Uinta Academy also offers a fully accredited academic program customized to fit each girlâs needs and maximize their educational development. Students can transfer the credits accrued at Uinta Academy to all other institutions, in addition to any accredited college or university.
Uinta Academy employs five therapeutic approaches to effectively treat their charges and promote positive life changes. First, through psychiatric services, Uinta Academy psychiatrists evaluate a studentâs situation and medical needs. Second, cognitive-behavioral therapy consists of individual, group, and family therapy sessions conducted by a Uinta Academy studentâs primary therapist. Third, the psycho-educational milieu comprises Uinta Academyâs general living arrangements and daily scheduled activities. The girls at Uinta Academy live in a Teaching Family Model that helps them learn cooperation and problem-solving skills. Recreation therapy offers yet another tactic used to treat students, and Uinta Academy takes the girls on monthly explorations, in addition to offering a number of outdoor activities and courses. Finally, Uinta Academy assigns each student a horse of her own to care for, teaching compassion and responsibility for other living creatures. Through these treatment methods, Uinta Academy strives to and succeeds in reshaping teenagersâ lives for the better.
