Blaine Lassich serves as a Water and Wastewater Operator in Sierra Vista, Arizona, where he has worked since 2005. In his position with the Wastewater Section of the city’s Department of Public Works, Blaine Lassich acts as a liaison between his department and the city engineers, his fellow employees, and outside contractors. He leads the city’s cross-connection control and backflow prevention program and oversees private contractors’ repairs of city sewers. Blaine Lassich also performs maintenance on electrical and mechanical components of the underground water and sewer infrastructure, as well as the city’s wastewater treatment plant’s system of actuators, valves, motors, and pumps. Blaine Lassich was his department’s 2009 Employee of the Year. Also in 2009, Blaine Lassich graduated with his Associate’s degree in Computer Technology from Rio Salado College. Additionally, Blaine Lassich has been certified by the American Backflow Prevention Association as a Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester and has been qualified by the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality to perform many other essential tasks related to the operation of water and wastewater treatment plants. While continuing with his work for the city of Sierra Vista, Blaine Lassich also attends classes at Northern Arizona University, where he is pursuing coursework in public planning and management. In his leisure time, Blaine Lassich enjoys furniture restoration and scuba diving. He also relaxes by reading works by authors like Nelson Demille, P.T. Deutermann, Michael Connolly, and T. Jefferson Parker.
