Before joining Claremont McKenna College’s official student publication, Michael Wilner gained experience in broadcasting and journalism by working for some established organizations in the field. Having received the 2009 McKenna International Summer Internship Award, Michael A. Wilner spent a few months as a Newspaper Intern and Reporter for Singapore’s The Straits Times, during which time he copytasted and reported global news. Later that same year, Michael A. Wilner accepted the role of Broadcast Intern at the BBC London as part of the Hansard Scholars Programme, where he was placed under the guidance of a chief parliamentary correspondent. He interned at CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360° as well, giving him access to all aspects of the program. In addition to assisting the producers, web staffers, and writers of the show, Michael Wilner contributed to CNN.com and had an article published on the website. In 2010, Michael A. Wilner began his tenure as Editor-in-Chief of The Forum, the official student publication of Claremont McKenna College. In addition to supervising a staff of 50, he conducted interviews and kept the Forum website relevant by publishing new content daily. During his term, Michael Wilner successfully increased the content, staff, and traffic of The Forum twofold, turning it into the leading publication at the Claremont Colleges. Michael Wilner also served on the Executive Board of the Associated Students of Claremont McKenna College, the college’s student government. A McKenna Achievement Award Merit Scholarship recipient for four years, Michael Wilner is presently pursuing his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Politics and Economics.
