Once again, responding to single contribution by this person on a travel related site, with no other comments or reviews contributed by the author. We have hundreds of positive comments and even some constructive criticism's on how we operate; but this gentlemen just refuses to let it go - Take that with a grain of salt, I own the place. This reviewer booked several weeks in advance of the anticipated stay last summer and contacted the Lodge directly several times about specific details about the area and other reservations at a local attraction that were made independently by him, we confirmed those reservations for him and relayed that information back to him. Excellent customer service was provided each and every time he made contact. This client also visited the website and reviewed a number of our sites pages, nothing on the website states that a deck is available, we however provide a screenhouse in the backyard dring the summer months - Which was available when they arrived; the pictures of the backyard do not depict a lake or river view, we are along a river. The Lodge is a short walk to the Androscoggin rivers edge; in fact you drive by the river when approaching the Lodge 1/4 of mile in either direction. However, the river is not visible because of the very prominent tree lines in this area of the "Great North Woods Region of NH." this should have been a hint to someone from far away places. He asked about eating out in the local area in addition to possible hikes that may be of interest and at his familes skill level. We solicited the input from the AMC for suggestions that awaited his arrival. Some information was provided proior to thier arrival as well as told that more information would come once they got here safe and sound. We always recommend local choice restaurants to ensure a good meal and experience. As the owner of the Lodge and this being my home, I worked all day updating my kitchen to commercial specifications. The old residential stove was placed to the side of the Lodge before being discarded the following day. Everyone present at Lodge at the time of the arrival was a legal aged adult (21+). Our guests along with our adult daughter are free to indulge should they choose to do so responsibly. I was the only legal aged adult that was indulging in an adult beverage and I am not a "drunk as it is implied here." The "drinking buddies" where my daughter and her boyfiend who had helped me working all day long, as was explained to he and his wife as they arrived at the front door. The nearest food establishment is less than 20 minutes and can be as much as 30 or 45, if the client chooses a certain style of food. We offer all of our guests the ability to use the gas grill to cook should they choose rather than eat out each evening. Being a B&B our rooms are a little smaller than a typical “Hotel Chain” rooms may provide, but far from "suffocating" and all are appointed and decorated very nicely with themes. Three are provided with a private bath and the rooms in question occupy nearly 550 square feet of the 2400 available, with the children located in a separate room as to accommodate the husband and wife while on vacation, we had the room available and made it ready for them at not charge. When I spoke with the children about their journey they where in good spirits and excited to have finally arrived after a full day of travels, and no one was visibly upset at the time of departure. In addition, these folks where scheduled to stay over fathers day and a cake was also purchased (unknown to them) to help them celebrate this event while being far from home. We often do this type of thing when we now that a special event or occasion is being celebrated while someone stay’s with us. Do hotels provide this type of personalized service? As the Lodge owner, I felt insulted that I was not provided any benefit of doubt after the previous service he had been provided while making his plans, we simply did not measure up to "someone’s standards" and the decision to depart was final. Our cancellation policy is clear and well stated, and in this instance was modified significantly to accommodate this fmans obvious displeasure, but a fee was assessed for the cancellation. This experience is odd and is contrary to all others that we have had from our guests. Please note: I rate myslef as "excellent" in order to achieve a middle ground rating going forward. Stay just once is all we ask, you will be just as convienced as hundreds of others, and I will likely have a beer with you if you wish!
