A committed member of his Brookfield, Connecticut, community, chef and restaurant owner Chris Bruno provides support to Family & Children's Aid, Inc., a nonprofit agency that provides services to children and families in need of shelter, home care, and outpatient treatment. As the operator and head chef of Chris's American Restaurant, Chris Bruno provides food and financial support to Family & Children's Aid, Inc. For more than 10 years, Chris Bruno has also served on the Family & Children's Aid, Inc. board, serving a term as President and Vice President and earning re-election in 2010.
Outside of his humanitarian efforts, Chris Bruno also leads the staff of Chris's American Restaurant, providing creative American dishes to his patrons and ensuring exceptional customer service. Chris Bruno established Chris's American Restaurant in 2003 after running the venue under its previous name, Fiddler's, for 13 years. Chris Bruno developed a progressive menu for Chris's American Restaurant after training with European chefs. Options include Osso Bucco, an entree of veal shanks cooked in meat broth and flavored with white wine and vegetables, grilled and marinated pork chops, and farfalle with wild mushrooms.
Prior to purchasing Fiddler's and changing it to Chris's American Restaurant, Chris Bruno graduated from Johnson and Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island, with an Associate degree in Culinary Arts. Chris Bruno has cooked in venues throughout the country, including Scrimshaw's Restaurant in Brookfield and L'Europe Restaurant in Vista, New York. Immediately before embarking on his venture with Chris's American Restaurant, Chris Bruno was promoted to executive chef of L'Europe Restaurant.
In 2010, Chris Bruno renovated Chris's American Restaurant once more, changing the venue to an upscale sports bar, now known as 189 Sports Cafe.
