? Profile

Say the name Mireille Guiliano and most people will instantly think of the international best-selling book French Women Don't Get Fat: The Secret of Eating for Pleasure. As the author of this fun and helpful book Mireille championed a combination of bread, Champagne, and chocolate as key foodstuffs, balanced with romance to create a stable diet and lifestyle. The book was a real stand out in a sea of tired yo-yo diet books and it quickly became a bestseller in 2005. In little over half a year, well over 1 million copies of the book were printed, and sales drove it to the top of the international bestseller charts.

The book would go on to become a veritable cultural phenomenon, inspiring cartoons in the New Yorker and spawning a swarm of imitations. To date it has been translated into over 40 languages, and continues to be read widely around the globe. From America to Europe and Asia and the Middle East, Guiliano's work was wildly popular on an international level. Mireille’s sophomore success was the fall 2006 release, French Women for All Seasons: A Year of Secrets, Recipes and Pleasure. The second work was devoted to l’art de vivre (the art of living) and French élan. While French Women Don’t Get Fat introduced readers to ways that they could enjoy a healthier relationship with food, French Women for All Seasons enabled readers to enjoy a healthier relationship with life writ large. Mireille shares her personal stories and illustrations in both books, and throughout French Women for All Seasons continues to espouse living life to the fullest by embracing quality, sensitivity, seasonality, pleasure and a healthy equilibrium.

Mireille Guiliano is a native of France, currently residing in New York City. She was educated in Paris, where she studied French and English literature at the Sorbonne and languages at the Institut Supérieur d'Interprétariat et de Traduction.
