Newport Children’s Medical Group Founder Steven Abelowitz has leveraged a successful medical career to improve the health of children throughout Southern California. Dr. Steven Abelowitz's medical philosophy is designed to provide children with world-class care from birth through adolescence in a gentle and compassionate environment. Steven Abelowitz's ability to prepare youth for a healthy adulthood has helped him receive praise from his peers as one of the “Top Doctors across America.” Steven Abelowitz is specifically interested in newborn and infant care, as well as ADD and ADHD, and is a staff member at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian, where he was the first pediatrician to be awarded “Doctor of the Month.” Over the last several years Steven Abelowitz has been awarded “Top Doctor for Physicians of Excellence” by the Orange County Medical Association, where he is an area representative. Abelowitz is also a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Steven Abelowitz is an adjunct professor at the University of California Los Angeles and University of Southern California teaching faculty, a columnist for the popular “Ask the Doctor” column in the Orange County register, a Maccabi games physician volunteer, and a JCC preschool medical adviser. Dr. Abelowitz also speaks Hebrew, Afrikaans, and Medical Spanish. In his free time he enjoys playing tennis, working out, watching movies, reading, gardening, and playing chess. Abelowitz gives back to his community by giving charitable contributions to Adoption Guild, as well as numerous preschool, elementary, and high school donations in Orangewood. Dr. Steven Abelowitz studied medicine at the Hebrew University, Hadassah Medical School. Finishing at the top of his class, Dr. Abelowitz completed his pediatric residency at the University of California Irvine.
